Advanced Open Water Diver

Advanced Open Water training at Alba

The Advanced Open Water diver certification is for many divers the next step beyond the open water certification. It offers 5 or 6 experience dives, with each dive having a different theme to give you a taste of different types of diving. The course includes a deep, navigation, buoyancy, night, and wreck dive. The Raid course also includes a rescue dive. Once certified, you will be able to dive to 30m, (35m with Raid), opening up more dive sites around the world to you.


RAID Advanced 35

Advanced open water training with Raid is a little different to all the other agencies. The online study is very comprehensive- you can be complete it prior to arriving at Alba. The materials are very up to date. Consequently, you will learn a lot from completing them. The practical side of the course requires 6 dives. The theme of each dive is buoyancy, navigation, environment, rescue, night, and deep. Once certified you will be qualified to dive to 35m.

Prerequisites
In order to enrol on the course, you need to:

  • You must be aged 15 years old or over.
  • Have a minimum of 4 hours logged underwater in an Open Water environment
  • Be a RAID Open Water 20 or RAID Explorer 30 Specialty or equivalent certification from a recognised training agency.

PADI Advanced Open Water

The PADI advanced course consists of 5 dives and some study in the form of PADI knowledge reviews from the advanced open water diver manual. Of those 5 dives, the deep and navigation dives are mandatory, yet you can choose from a range of options for the other dives. After completing the course you will be qualified to dive to 30m.

Prerequisites
In order to enrol on the course, you need to:

  • You must be aged 18, 1o years for junior open water, with parental consent (some restrictions on speciality dives if under 12 years old).
  • Be qualified as an open water or junior open water diver.

SDI Advanced Adventure Diver

The SDI advanced adventure diver course is similar in structure to the PADI advanced course, in that 5 dives are required, and the deep and navigation dives are mandatory. You can complete the theory side of the course online prior to any in-water training. The course will qualify you to dive to 30m.

Prerequisites
In order to enrol on the course, you need to:

  • You must be aged 18, 10 with parental consent
  • Be qualified as a SDI Open Water Scuba Diver or equivalent, SDI Junior Open Water Scuba Diver or equivalent (Note: Junior divers (10-15) can only take specialties approved for their age).
  • Limits for Junior Divers:
    Deep Diving: Maximum depth for divers 10-15 is 21 metres/70 feet
    Dry suit; minimum age 12
    Wreck: Limited penetration minimum age 15
